Had great performance from my old P105 pump. 8 years, no issue. Bought new one August, 2009. Failed in less than 100 hrs. Had new seal installed yesterday to stop the leak. New seal looks to be far superior style than the failed seal. Do I have any recourse? 10 months off warranty. Painful, given previous service.
We haven't changed the seal - it has been the same one since the pump was developed 20+ years ago. We can certainly take a look at your seal and see if it has a defect - I will forward you the RMA number and address to have it shipped here for review. Lip seals can last hundreds of hours or have much shorter life depending on the water clarity, cycles, speeds, any unexpected dry run events, etc. They wear into the pump shaft and wear away over time.
Yes - the seal is basically in the middle of the pump. The pump is similar to the G21. See the attached 09959 tech guide. http://www.sherwoodpumps.com/en-us/References/
You will need an arbor or hydraulic press to press the bearings and seals in and out.
I have a D55 and purchased the parts to rebuild it has the salesman for a detailed picture on reassembling it. They did not have one and I have spent a lot of time trying to find one on the Internet. Will you please e-mail me a picture so I can complete the process. Thank you
